The M18-F225 is a lower priced version of the LT-2000 with the cabinet specifically dimensioned for the Fostex FF225WK. The M18-F225 has a slightly darker character than the LT-2000. The M18-F225 has a strong bass into the 30's with no fatigue during long listening sessions. As the FF225WK can be over-driven more gracefully than the DX3, the M18-F225 is a great choice if your musical diet tends to classic rock and other heavier genre.
A tweeter option for the M18-F225. This adds air and openness to the speaker. A Fostex FT17H tweeter is rabbeting into the supra baffle of the stock M18-F225.
A number of other drivers can be made to work in the basic M18-F225 cabinet. The Lowther DX2 and DX3 can be fitted into this cabinet, providing an upgrade path to near LT-2000 MkII performance. In my opinion, the Fostex FF225WK is the best driver in the price range and I will continue to develop the cabinet for this driver. In any case, before you purchase the M18-F225, you should contact me for a discussion of options and suitability to your needs.
